A Living Symbol

One remarkable thing about traveling in Israel is encountering living connections to the past.

Take the palm tree, for example. The palm tree has long been a national symbol of the Jewish people.

This stand of towering palms at the desert oasis of En Gedi reminds us of the fruitfulness and resilience of God's chosen people across the centuries as well as of God's faithfulness to His promises to the ones He loves.

Even the vegetation here helps us understand a little bit more about what God is like.
