Celebrating America with Toilet Paper

Growing up in a small town in the California’s Central Valley, I have lots of good memories of summertime activities: walking down to our one lone grocery store to buy penny-candy, catching pollywogs in the pond across the street, and of course, toilet papering my best friend’s house at 2:00 in the morning. But you know what’s even better than TPing your best friend’s house? TPing your best friend. In the spotlight. In front of a huge crowd. On July 4th. On a Cruise ship...in Alaska! Now that’s fun!

During this Fourth of July celebration, volunteer teams from the audience played a game of wrapping someone (or being wrapped) up with toilet paper to look like the Statue of Liberty in only sixty seconds. I mean…how much more patriotic can you get?? The Statue of Liberty Poem has a whole new meaning now: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Don’t worry, we unwrapped them quickly enough to let them get a breath and then awarded them with some pretty fun prizes!
